We are recently retired and have always wanted to hike the PCT. We decided to combine this challenge with the goal of raising money for the Alzheimer Society when the disease invaded the lives of people we love; Neil's grandmother, mother and my mother. I have been hiking since the age of ten when my father took me on my first hike up Mount Swansea in beautiful British Columbia. I still remember the crystal cold water of the streams we crossed as well as the amazing crystal formations of the rocks. I was hooked.
Neil and I have been hiking together for the past twenty years covering terrain from the Pyrenees, the Camino de Santiago, Grand Canyon, Glacier and Waterton National Parks and closer to home, the Rocky Mountains. We are starting the PCT on March 31 and hope to complete the thru-hike by the end of September.
